MUDRA

MUDRA is the Finance Club of NMIMS Bengaluru. Derived from the Sanskrit word meaning a symbol or token of currency, the name reflects the club’s commitment to building financial awareness and strengthening students’ understanding of money and markets. MUDRA encourages discussions on major economic and financial issues and equips students with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly interconnected global economy. The club also plays a key role in bridging industry and academia by bringing real-world perspectives to campus.

ROLE OF MUDRA

MUDRA is a student-driven initiative comprising an enthusiastic core team of senior and junior members who are passionate about learning and sharing knowledge in a collaborative and engaging environment. The club organises events, workshops, competitions, and speaker interactions that help students develop practical financial skills and gain exposure to industry expectations. It aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their abilities, explore career opportunities, and deepen their understanding of financial concepts through hands-on experiences.

EVENTS

VALOREM: Valorem is MUDRA’s flagship national-level Equity Research Competition. The 2026 edition drew 529+ registrations from premier institutions across India, including IIMs, IITs, Symbiosis, TAPMI, and SP Jain, reflecting the competition’s growing scale and credibility. Participants are evaluated across rigorous rounds testing financial knowledge, stock analysis, and valuation-based decision-making, culminating in an on-campus grand finale. The competition features an esteemed jury comprising seasoned finance professionals, with the 2026 panel including specialists in Quantitative Finance, Market Risk, and industry practitioners from leading firms.

SPEAKER SESSIONS: MUDRA hosts industry professionals and thought leaders who share insights on finance, strategy, markets, and emerging trends. Recent speakers include Ms. Anjana Nahar, Mr. Johnson Fernandes, Ms. Amisha Sethi, Dr. Teena Rawal, and CA Dinesh Agarwal. These sessions offer students valuable exposure to real-world financial decision-making and career pathways.

BLOOMBERG SESSIONS: To enhance practical learning, MUDRA conducts Bloomberg Terminal training sessions that familiarise students with global market data, analytics, economic indicators, and portfolio tracking tools widely used in the finance industry.

QUIZZES AND COMPETITIONS: The club organises engaging quiz formats and competitions throughout the year, including FinQuest, a multi-round finance quiz campaign designed to test conceptual clarity, application skills, and market awareness. These events encourage competitive learning and build analytical thinking.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS: MUDRA provides structured mentorship support where students can approach senior members for academic guidance, career advice, interview preparation, and help with finance-related queries. This initiative operates under the guidance of the campus director, Dr. Narayani Ramachandran.

LEARNING INITIATIVES: The club conducts investment sessions covering stock markets, fundamental and technical analysis, and portfolio-building concepts. Remedial sessions are also offered for students seeking support in foundational finance subjects such as Financial Accounting and Management Accounting, helping students strengthen their foundational knowledge. Additional learning content includes technical chart analysis, global financial updates, and company financial statement reviews.

NEWSLETTER: In an increasingly dynamic financial world, staying informed is not just an advantage, it is a necessity. MUDRA’s official finance newsletter, The Growth Gazette, is crafted by the Research Sector to provide crisp, insightful, and actionable updates from across the financial landscape. The newsletter serves as a curated digest of key developments in markets, the economy, and the corporate world, while also offering simplified explanations of finance concepts and practical personal finance guidance. The Growth Gazette aims to equip students with relevant knowledge, broaden their financial perspective, and keep the NMIMS community consistently connected to the ever-evolving world of finance.

PANEL DISCUSSIONS: MUDRA organises panel discussions featuring faculty members, alumni, and industry experts who share diverse perspectives on financial markets, economic trends, and career opportunities. These sessions help students engage with multi-dimensional viewpoints and develop a deeper understanding of the finance ecosystem.

This year apart from the events mentioned above, Mudra plans many exciting events, workshops, discussions etc. like- Stock Trading Simulations, Business Valuation Models, Discussion Forums, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain workshop and so on.
