About Udyam:
Udyam, the social responsibility committee of NMIMS, Bengaluru, is a student-run committee that serves as a beacon of social responsibility, with a firm commitment to raising awareness and making a meaningful difference in society. The committee addresses pressing environmental, social, and governance challenges and also provides a platform for young, budding managers to drive social change.
Vision: To nurture socially conscious business leaders who catalyse meaningful change in the communities they serve and the systems they shape.
Mission: Udyam exists to make social responsibility integral to the NMIMS Bengaluru MBA experience by building curricular pathways, fostering community engagement, hosting thought leadership platforms, and driving advocacy campaigns.
Curricular Program for Social Immersion and Civic Engagement
- WeCare Civic Engagement Internship: Udyam spearheads NMIMS’s flagship WeCare program, a 21-day winter internship where students partner with NGOs—including Goonj Foundation, Surabhi Trust, eVidyaloka Trust, Akshaya Patra Foundation, CRY, and others—to tackle real-world social challenges and grow as responsible future leaders.
- NGO Visits: Students visited NGOs including Art of Living Foundation, Om Ashram Trust, DESIRE Society, SOS Children's Villages, and Mylos Foundation, gaining on-ground exposure to grassroots challenges, sustainable solutions, and the realities of social impact work.
Community Engagement Programs
- Daan Utsav - The Week of Giving: Daan Utsav was a week-long celebration of giving through initiatives like Kindness Bingo and a UPI raffle fundraiser. The highlight was a blood donation camp that collected over 100 pints of blood—with the potential to save up to 300 lives. Proceeds were donated to Om Ashram Trust and DESIRE Society in the form of food, groceries, and medicines.
- Gratitude Day: Gratitude Day was celebrated to honour the support staff who keep our campus running. With student performances, fun games, and thoughtful gifts, the day was a warm expression of appreciation from the entire community.
- Clothes Donation Drive: Udyam ran a two-phase Clothes Donation Drive—once post-Diwali and again during the outgoing batch’s departure—collecting over 240 kgs of clothing, all donated to Goonj Foundation.
Thought Leadership and Socio-Business Systems Change
- Vihaan: Vihaan, Udyam’s flagship event, brought together MBA students, NGO members, and CSR professionals for a round-robin dialogue on "Co-creating Change: Reimagining Social Change Across Systems.” Panels spanned themes including education, healthcare, climate action, and mental health. The event also recognized outstanding WeCare participants with awards for Best Poster, Best Documentary, and Most Socially Sensitive Student.
- Samajh: ‘Samajh’ is Udyam’s annual newsletter documenting the committee’s journey and impact—featuring student voices, event highlights, global perspectives, and thought pieces that bring Udyam’s mission to life.
Awareness and Advocacy
- Treasure Hunt and Nukkad Natak: Udyam combined a cross-batch Treasure Hunt with a Nukkad Natak at Bannerghatta National Park to promote biodiversity awareness. The Treasure Hunt built teamwork and problem-solving skills, while the street play engaged the local community around endangered species, habitat protection, and sustainable living.
